The Campus at a Glance

Queen’s campus is traditionally known for its beautiful ivy-covered limestone buildings, interspersed by technologically-advanced structures such as the Queen’s Centre, Stauffer Library, and of course, our School of Medicine Building. To the north sits the bustling Kingston downtown and Hotel Dieu Hospital (part of the Kingston Health Sciences Network that you will study at!). Lake Ontario hugs the campus from the south leaving our famous Gord-Downie Pier and Beach less than a 5 minute walk from campus and a beautiful sight from many rooms at Kingston General Hospital. To the east of campus sits City Park, a beautiful space for picnics, outdoor study sessions, and barbeques and QMED’s favorite social club – Meds House. Its small size gives it a cozy feeling, as it takes only ten minutes to walk from one end of campus to the other. Queen’s also has a separate West Campus that is a 10 minute bus ride away, hosting more student residents and the school’s biggest theatre as well as the Education Library and Jean Royce Dining Hall

The Queen’s Campus sits as a city within Kingston with 6 major libraries, countless study spaces, and beautifully designed buildings including the Engineering Centre for Innovation and Douglas Libraries’ Harry Potter Study Room. Within the Residents District stand most of the residence buildings, both main campus dining halls, and the main entry to Breakwater Park. Much like the rest of Kingston, Queen’s offers some great food and drink options on campus including CoGro, The Tea Room, and retail locations like The Lazy Scholar and Location 21!
