Casual Dining - Other Stuff

Amadeus · 170 Princess Street · 613-456-7468

The décor is awful in this German eatery, but they have a nice patio in the back. If you want really hearty Eastern European cuisine, Amadeus is the place to go: cabbage rolls, amazing schnitzel, sausages, and of course, unique German beer on tap. Avoid the Amadeus platter unless you want the meat sweats.

The Copper Penny · 240 Princess Street · 613-549-4257

When you just want a burger and fries, but don’t want fast food, hit up The Copper Penny. It has a large menu that doesn’t hurt your wallet, and is consistently good.

Pan Chancho Bakery and Café · 44 Princess Street · 613-544-7790

A popular bakery that also serves up some delicious and inspired meals, come to The Chanch to delight in amazing scones, brioche, cookies, cakes and tarts that can rival any patisserie. A popular spot for breakfast and lunch, they also serve up patés, salads, sandwiches and cheese to-go. You really should eat here.

Tango Nuevo · 331 King Street East · (613) 548-3778

Self-described as Kingston’s funkiest restaurant and tapas bar, Tango’s menu is excellent, with half-price tapas on Sunday and Monday evenings. On Wednesdays, they offer half-price Mussels, and a “Martini and a Manicure” for $15. They have a small selection of tasty and creative main dishes and are open until 2 AM for a late-night nosh.

The Works - 298 Princess - 613-547- 6000

This gourmet burger restaurant chain from Ottawa just opened in Kingston and has become overwhelmingly popular with students. Their long list of creative toppings and thick, decadent milkshakes are their best selling points. They don't take reservations though, so going outside of peak times are best!
