Low Blood Pressure or Hypotension
- Premature infants often have low blood pressure immediately following birth, often caused by blood loss during delivery, fluid loss after birth, infection, or medications administered to the mother before birth.
- Treatment may include:
- Medications to increase blood pressure
- Administering extra fluid for the infant
- A blood transfusion
