Rest

The goal of resting is to reduce exposure to both occupational and non-occupational stressors. Compliance will vary depending on the severity of CTS and the capability to implement effective workplace modifications. Initially, all forceful and repetitive hand movements, both occupational and non-occupational in nature, should be avoided.

Some individuals will require time off work, whereas others may be able to alter their work in such a way that they can continue daily employment. The latter may be accomplished by taking frequent, brief rest breaks and/or by altering either the work process or the workstation.
