Secondary Prevention

Unfortunately, there are currently no proven primary preventive measures. Secondary preventive measures aim at reducing the impact of risk factors particularly the avoidance of provocative exposures, via ergonomic changes to the workplace, including,
  • Task variety
  • Tool and workspace design
  • Appropriate work pace
  • Work breaks
  • Rest breaks
  • Adjustment or Training time
Furthermore appropriate management of medical conditions that may predispose a patient to CTS is helpful in secondary prevention. For example, controlling a patient's diabetes or thyroid condition may help mitigate the development of CTS.
