Corticosteroids

Local steroid injection is the most effective non-surgical treatment1. However, the effects of corticosteroid injection appear to be time limited, and the benefit beyond one month is unclear1. Corticosteroid injections can be quite effective for temporary relief from symptoms of CTS while patients develop a long term strategy that fits with their lifestyle. Two steroid injections do not appear to add significant clinical benefit to one injection1. Local injections have been shown to be superior to systemic corticosteroids1.
