Section 5 - Making it Happen

Let's assume that you have done a good AT assessment and have followed a systematic process where you have done some device trials and worked with your client, other team members and a vendor or skilled technician to come up with AT solutions that seem like they will do the job. The goal now is to ensure that the right equipment is obtained, that the client learns to use it, and that it is successfully achieving the desired goals. Remember that AT can be used for a variety of purposes:

- as a therapy tool - to build skills in motivating and innovative ways

- to enable client function and autonomy in BADLs & IADLS

- to enhance success and options in work and school

- to provide recreation options

...and many more. This final section deals with how we get the technology, and ensure that it is used.
