Collaborative Practice Module
This educational module is funded through a Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care/Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities ICEF Grant. We wish to acknowledge Linda Jones RN(EC) BSN CFNP and Daniel Way BA MD CCFP FCFP (Jones, Way & Associates) for allowing us to use their Structured Collaborative Practice© model and previous work with the Supporting Interdisciplinary Practice (SIP) Project (2006).

This module has been developed to introduce a common
understanding and language for collaborative practice to support the
development of improved collaboration within health care teams. |
By the completion of the module, participants will be able to:
- Define collaborative practice;
- Describe the purpose for collaborative practice;
- Describe the Structured Collaborative Practice© model as one model of collaborative practice;
- Describe the spectrum of collaboration;
- Describe the 7 elements essential for collaboration; and
- Identify practice setting variables that support or constrain collaboration.
Module Instructions:
- Please read through the following information and take the opportunity to reflect on the concepts of collaboration within the context of your team and work environment.
- The module will take no more than one hour to complete. You may review the information in pieces if you wish and revisit the module as you have the time.
- Reflective questions are included throughout the module. They are meant to provide a stimulus for further thoughts about collaboration. You may wish to record your responses for future reference and/or for discussion with your colleagues.
