Objectives

By the end of this module you should be able to:

  • define accuracy and precision of clinical measurements
  • define physiologic variability of measurements for a patient (intra-subject variability)
  • define intra-rater reliability and inter-rater reliability and explain how they relate to reproducibility
  • explain how these concepts can affect clinical decision-making
  • explain how measurement reliability is assessed and define what a kappa value is
